Design Foundation Model vs. Construction Foundation Model
Comparision of design model (at left) and completed construction model, that was coordinated with shop drawings and civil grading plans (at right). Survey data was later pulled from the model for stakeout in pouring the walls.
Construction Foundation Model
All the minor details for layout were taken from the model for stakeout with the Formwork Contractor Foreman. The visuals were important to completely understand the rebar shop drawings.
Grade Beams Rebar
The details called for an enormous amount of rebar designed for the grade beams, I knew there would be no room for the anchor bolts when pouring them. Modeled rebar to depict how the Ironworkers will need to rework the rebar to accommodate the anchor bolts to maintain embedment.
Elevator & Steel
Shop drawings and shop models reviewed together to confirm all details work and ready for fabrication.
Mechanical Penthouse Loading & Pick Plans
Planned sequencing of the loading mechanical units into the penthouses. Coordinated with Trades, shown plans for sequencing the delivery of units and coordination structural steel erection with the curtainwall installation.
Air Rights Steel Erection
New building lab space to span over roadway. Broke down the schedule and shop drawings to show erection by the day. Created drawings and images as a package for MassDOT approval.
The steel erection sequences had to be done through the night. (see below)
Air Rights Steel Erection Night Work
Steel erection sequences done at night.
Winter Conditions
Assisted with the Team to create temporary heating plans for winter conditions. Here modeled Monarflex sheeting showed sequencing of Curtainwall and Monarflex.
Topping Off Ceremony
Used the coordination models and accurate crane model to determine the best suited location for the topping off ceremony. The location was to take place on the parking garage off site. I confirmed the crane could in-fact reach over the building we finished erecting to pick the topping off beam and hang it in place.
Reviewed the engineering reports for the support of excavation and the angle of repose needed so the Manitowoc 999 crawler crane would not be too close to the building to reach over. I had layed out two grade stakes for the Manitowoc to pull up to and stop so it would not be too close to the building.
